Title: Johnson Middle School
1Johnson Middle School
Home of the Warriors
Who Will You Be?
RESPECT EFFORT PRIDE
2When you look in the mirror Its an image you
see But deep down inside Just who will you be?
3When youre in Middle School Youll want to
belong That doesnt mean doing What you know is
wrong
4Who wants to belong To a group that seems
Rad But does things that make you Feel lonely
and sad
5You have a mind And you know how to think You
dont have to do something That really does stink
6Tell yourself, I dont need it, No matter to
me! That isnt the me That I want to be
7Now, something youll learn As you go on in
school Is that you can be kind At the same time
youre cool
8Its cool to be nice I once heard Bill Gates
say, Be nice to a nerd, Hell be your boss some
day.
9As you go down the road Youll see what you
see Youll keep right on learning Just who you
will be
10You can get the cool clothes And the jewelry and
car But that doesnt measure The person you are
11The price that youll pay Is expensive, youll
see Its becoming the person You wont want to be
12And if you measure your worth By the clothes you
have on What happens when all of your Stuff is
all gone?
13Now dont be so fearful Youre too scared to
fail Ive had my share of failures And lived to
tell the tale
14If you dont stick your neck out Youll be safe
its true But you also wont find out Who is the
real you
15Doing only whats easy Wont break you a
sweat But you also wont learn Lessons you need
to get
16So heres that same question Coming right back at
you Just who will you be Thats the question for
you
17But always remember That who you will be Will be
up to you Not your Mom, Dad or me
18Will you be a person Who is running on greed? Or
will you be the one giving To people in need?
19Will you just collect awards To put on your
shelf? Or will you help people Who cant help
themselves?
20So its not on the outside The things you can
see Its the stuff on the inside That shows who
youll be
21In the end all that matters Is not in the
bank Not your money or home Or the gas in your
tank
22How much joy did you give How much love, how much
laughter All the people you helped And felt so
good after
23Its the last time Ill ask it Its a big
question for you Just who will you be Thats the
question for you
24If you follow your heart And just listen to
me Youll turn into the you You are destined to
be From a poem written and recited by Maria
Shriver
