Epidemiologic Profile
  • The purpose of this chapter is to present the
epidemiology of HIV and AIDS in San Francisco.
  • This chapter will focus on HIV/AIDS data from San
Francisco, but will be developed based on the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
    Integrated Guidelines for Developing
Epidemiologic Profiles HIV Prevention and Ryan
    White CARE Act Community Planning.
  • HIV/AIDS Epidemiology Section will provide 2008
    data in early 2009.
  • This will be presented to the HPPC in April 2009.
  • This is the scope of work of the Points of
    Integration Committee.

3
Community Assessment Chapter
  • This chapter discusses how HIV has affected
different populations in San Francisco. It is
    based on current data.
  • Specifically, it talks about the needs of
different populations living with or at risk for
    HIV.
  • The African American Action Plan, The Latino
Action Plan, and the Transmale RAP will all be
    included in this chapter.
  • HarderCo. and the HIV Prevention Section have
received direction and input from the committee.
The chapter is currently being written. This will
be reviewed by the committee in early 2009, and
presented to the council in April 2009.
  • This chapter is included in the scope of work of
the Show Me the Data Committee (SMTD).

4
Priority Setting Chapter
  • The main purpose of this chapter is to outline
the priorities for HIV prevention in San
    Francisco (who and what issues)
  • The final chapter will be presented to the HPPC
    in May 2009.
  • This chapter is being completed by the Show Me
    the Data Committee (SMTD).

5
Priority Setting Model (cont.)
  • Provider Input In December, we will have a
provider meeting to inform providers of the work
this committee has done so far. We will present
the Priority Setting Model with BRPs and
criteria, criteria for drivers, and criteria for
cofactors. We will also invite providers to
    attend the Dec. HPPC meeting.
  • The committee will present this model to the
    Council for vote.
  • Committee will begin discussing resource
allocation in January 2009. Recommendations will
be presented to the HPPC in March 2009.

6
Strategies Interventions
  • This chapter provides the tools that providers
need to design and implement programs.
  • The chapter will provide the key elements of the
focus areas HIV Status Awareness, Prevention
With Positives (PwP), Syringe Programs, and
    Health Education and Risk Reduction.
  • Recommendations for Structural Changes will be
made under each of the focus areas.
  • The committee has already completed two
components of this chapter (HIV Status Awareness
    and Syringe Programs)
  • The PwP Best Practices Guide is being worked on
by the Points of Integration Committee. This will
come to SIE to begin incorporating into the
    chapter in January 2009.
  • The Strategies Interventions chapter will be
approved by the HPPC in June 2009.

7
Evaluation
  • The purpose of the chapter is to provide an
overview of San Franciscos approach to
    evaluation of HIV prevention efforts.
  • This chapter is included in the scope of work for
    the Strategies, Interventions, Evaluation
    Committee.
  • The committee has given input on what should be
included in this chapter. The draft chapter will
go to the committee for review and approval in
    December 2008.
  • The final chapter will be approved by the HPPC in
    January 2009.
