24Vulcan Overview
- Detect remote fires before they become local
- Distribute graphical reports via email
- Retrieve data from integrated weather models such
as GRIB - Provide regional management by monitoring
selected areas - Locate fires to within 1.1 km accuracy
- Display images for interactive analysis
- Animate time series imagery
- Automatic email notification
25Vulcan Fire Detection Software
- Plug-in to TeraVision II.
- Fire detection algorithm identifies burned areas
(thermal anomalies) for a region fire locations,
size, and strength. - Map and weather overlays are available.
- Incorporates MODIS AVHRR thermal IR and VIS
channels
26Vulcan Fire Detection Regions
- Create regions of interest to be processed
separately for fires. - Each region contains climate, land elevation,
detection masks, land cover (forests) and fire
location information. - Each region also has a notification distribution
list associated with it.
27Vulcan Fire Location, Size, Strength
- Display fire location icon and area (in
kilometers2) for each fire pixel group. - Zoom in to view individual fire locations.
Pixels are colored according to strength of fire
(in Watts/m2) detected within them. - Color legend relates the colors to their
respective values.
