Printouts) - Significantly improved test environment
- Rationalised/automated installation
- Centralised events definition management
- Command sources split (model/view)
- Many functional upgrades (e.g. OOL reports
generation). - SCOS-2000 R5.0 CFIs development
- PARC new generation packet archive (based on
relational databases) - TMCR TM processing Chain Re-engineering
(including model/view split). - Generic File Transfer System (GFTS) development
- Generic mechanisms to deliver files to ground
data systems.
4MCS Infrastructure Main on-going activities (2/2)
- Services Management Framework (SMF) development
- Generic mechanisms for providing services to
other systems - Enables transparent access to system interfaces
by means of a standardised (ECSS E-70-31 like)
approach. - File Archive (FARC) development
- Generic implementation to manage files in ground
data systems - Enables transparent access to files via
logical names. - SCOS-2000 R5.0 development
- Split of processing/visualisation for all client
applications - Centralised/harmonised management of all files
(in the FARC) - System Configuration Manager
- Clean-up of platform specific implementations
(e.g. endianity) - Support of powerful external interfaces (suitable
for ground operations automation) via SMF - Support of automated regression testing
- Re-engineering of run-time database management
(POST) - SLE upgrades (F-CLTU, FSP, R-OCF).
5MCS Infrastructure SCOS-2000 Status
- SCOS-2000 R3.1 (and compatible ancillary systems)
is widely used (at ESOC and outside) and is in a
mature state. - SCOS-2000 R4.0 development has been completed
- PA version has been distributed to a selected
number of ESA client missions - FA expected by the end of January 2005.
- SCOS-2000 R5.0 is currently being developed
- The main CFIs to be integrated/used (PARC, TMCR,
FARC, SMF) are currently undergoing preliminary
acceptance - FA of the complete system expected by Q2 2007.
- The EGOS Low Level Components (to be adopted in
SCOS-2000 R6.0) are currently being defined
(requirements engineering phase ongoing).

7Simulator Infrastructure Main on-going activities
- Simulators Infrastructure (SIMSAT, Generic and
Ground Models) R3.0 development - Porting to Linux
- Adoption of platform independent technology
(Java, CORBA, XML) - Automated unit testing
- Compilation and validation on 64 bit platforms.
- TMTCS Interface (TIF) Ground Model development
- Enables the involvement of the real TMTCS in
simulations based on the high-fidelity spacecraft
simulator or using the generic infrastructure
TM/TC model - SIMSAT R4.0 development
- Support of SMP-2 standard (but keeping backwards
compatibility with SMP-1 models) - Support of model integration environment
- Architectural re-organisation to support SMP-2
concepts - Migration of SIMSAT MMI to Java SWT and Eclipse
RCP - Various functional improvements.
8Simulator Infrastructure Current Status
- Simulator Infrastructure R2.x (Windows-2003
based) is still being maintained - Simulator Infrastructure R3.0 development has
been completed - SIMSAT Final (FA) version is currently being
accepted - Generic Models have been provisionally accepted
- Ground Models are currently being provisionally
accepted. - TMTCS Interface (TIF) development
- Provisionally accepted under Windows
- Development started under Linux (based on
Simulator Infrastructure R3.0) - SIMSAT R4.0 requirements engineering phase is
ongoing.
9Test and Validation Infrastructure Main on-going
activities
- Portable Satellite Simulator R1 development has
been completed - Based on Simulator Infrastructure R2.x
(Windows-2003) - Generic set of components supporting the
execution of a variety of subsystem, integration
and system tests of the ground segment - Capable of interfacing to station equipment via
hardware interfaces (IF, Video or baseband) as
well as via LAN interface (bypassing the IFMS). - Gound Systems Test Validation Infrastructure
(GSTVi) R1 development just kicked-off - Similar in concept to PSS but wider in scope
- Based on SIMSAT R4.0 and Ground Models R3.x
(Linux) - Generic SMP-2 models representing the TM/TC
behaviour of spacecraft - Capability to simulate the most important
on-board PUS services - Support of a Control Center (S2KNIS) model
- Support of the most important test set-up
required in all phases of the ground segment
validation (isolated system tests, integration
testing, system validation tests, end-to-end
tests, operational tests)
10Test and Validation Infrastructure Current Status
- PSS R1.x (Windows-2003 based)
- Already deployed in a number of ESA ground
stations - Still in warranty but already in a mature state
- Last version (R1.2.2) can be used for isolated
MCS testing as well as in NDIU Ultra Light
mode - Shows good performance in both hardware and
software set-ups. - GSTVi R1 (Linux/SMP-2) just kicked-off!
