Before we begin

• Elevation- the height or distance above sea
  level.
• Sea level- the average level of the ocean. Zero
  elevation
• Topography- creating a map based on elevation
  points that are equal.

• Contour Line- A line created by connecting points
  of equal of elevation on a map.

Two more vocab words

• Contour Interval- The amount of elevation change
  between two contour lines
• Index Contour (line)- A special contour line that
  is thicker and darker. It also has its elevation
  written on it.
