10AFMS - Purpose
- The purpose of this program of proposed freight
mobility studies is to explore how intermodal
transportation, including greater use of inland
waterways, can better enable US manufacturers and
producers to use inland waterway transportation
infrastructure to develop new economic
opportunities. - These studies will also examine the role of
inland waterways in reducing highway congestion
and providing an essential alternate mode of
transportation for the security of our nation.
