Title: A Sure Foundation

1
A Sure Foundation
  • Matt. 724-27

2
Building a House
  • A house us built upon a foundation a persons
    life is built upon principles.
  • Every person is building their own house.
  • Whether that house stands or falls depends on the
    condition of its foundation.
  • Is our house built on sand or upon a rock?

Matthew 724-27
3
The Right Foundation
  • Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does
them, I will liken him to a wise man who built
    his house on the rock.
  • The words of Jesus are solid as a rock
    immovable, unchangeable, eternal.
  • Mat 2435 Heaven and earth will pass away, but
My words will by no means pass away.
  • Those who build their lives on His words will
    not be moved.

4
Facing the Storm
  • Mortal peril Matt. 510-12 1 Pet. 414-16
  • Enemies Matt. 543-48
  • Financial loss Matt. 619-21
  • Judgment Matt. 71-2
  • Difficult decisions Matt. 713-14
  • False doctrine Matt. 715-20
  • Matt. 721-23 Whatever the challenge, we will
stand if we walk in the Lord.

5
The Wrong Foundation
  • Everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and
does not do them will be like a foolish man who
builds his house on the sand
  • As sand washes away with the tide, human wisdom
    will wash away when tested.
  • 1 Cor. 319-20 For the wisdom of this world is
    foolishness with God.
  • 1 Cor. 119 I will destroy the wisdom of the
wise, and bring to nothing the
    understanding of the prudent.

6
Facing the Storm
  • Gal. 67 We will reap what we sow.
  • If we lie to get out of trouble, we deceive
    ourselves (Rev. 218).
  • If we steal to avoid hunger, we will never be
    made full (1 Cor. 69-10).
  • If we cheat for profit, we will be cheated
    (Micah 21-3).
  • If we trust in riches, they will fail us (1 Tim.
    610)
  • If we give heed to false doctrine, it will
condemn rather than save (Gal. 18-9).
  • If we hide from our sins, they will find us out
    (Num. 3223).

7
Conclusion
  • Men often think they can succeed without God.
  • None have been able to so far.
  • Whatever we are struggling with, we will continue
to struggle until we make the words of Christ the
    foundation for our lives.
  • If we want to stand through the storm, we must
trust in the Lord and walk in His ways.
