Title: PID updates for PEIMS data files

1
PID updates for PEIMS data files
  • Effective with this Fall/Mid-Year 2007-2008
release, PID updates sent via PEIMS data files
(batch process) will follow the same 14-day
business rule as PID Maintenance (online) i.e.,
updates can only be made to a specific PID record
    every 14 days.

2
Reminder The final week before any 1st
submission closes, EDIT experiences an extremely
high volume of file transfers. Due to the impact
this high volume has on statewide processing,
please do not wait until the final week to submit
your files.

User Activities Page
  • An Agent ID column has been added to the Users
Activity page (accessed from the User
Administration link). The search feature has been
enhanced to display the logon Agent ID and all
Agent IDs within the hierarchy, consistent with
the User Directory Page. For example, if a
district ID is entered in the search, the page
displays the district ID and all campus IDs. The
user can then select the Name hyperlink to
display the User Activity page for a specific
    Agent ID

Reason for Dual Event Dates (C and V)
  • A new field, Event Reason, has been added to
the PET Event Maintenance and PET Event History
pages to aid in the identification and
verification of dual event dates (enrollment or
withdrawal). The new field contains two columns.
  • Calendar (C) Indicating research has
confirmed that dual event dates (enrollment or
withdrawal) are due to conflicting district
    calendars.
  • Verified (V) Indicating dual enrollment has
been verified or validated by other means of
    documentation.
  • These values also display in a new column added
to PET3D001 PET Presumed Duplicate Report for
    Enrollment.

5

and the screen comes up with his/her information,
the date under Event Date column will be
underlined. You will need to click on this date.

Reason column
11

event has been verified.

  • PET users access parameter-driven PET reports via
the My Report Requests link on the PET home
page. The link is available to any PET user who
has permissions to generate PET reports.

13

Enhanced Student Leaver Submission Reports
  • The Student Leaver Record Submission reports have
been enhanced for 2007-2008 as follows
  • Leaver Definition includes the 203 Record. The
definition of leaver has been expanded to include
the 203 record, impacting the following reports
    PRF0B032 (Presumed Underreported Students List),
    PRF0B033 (Preliminary Presumed Underreported
    Students List).
  • Date GED Certificate Issued. Formerly, the Texas
GED Recipient column listed Yes if the student
was a GED recipient. This column has been renamed
Texas GED Recipient Date and displays the date
a GED certificate is issued to a student.
Additionally, a footnote indicates the date on
which GED certificate issuance information is
retrieved (initially, in mid-September and again
after the close of the 1st submission). The
following reports are impacted PRF0B031 (Interim
List to Assist Districts in Leaver Record
    Submission), PRF0B032 (Presumed Underreported
    Students List), and PRF0B033 (Preliminary
    Presumed Underreported Students List).
  • New Parameter. The PRF0B031 (Interim List to
Assist Districts in Leaver Record Submission)
parameter page for PRF0B031 has been enhanced to
provide a new parameter that would include only
those students who are not school year movers or
prior year Texas graduates, i.e., only include
those students who do not have a Yes flag in
either of those columns in the report.
  • New Summary Information. A summary is displayed
on the final page of PRF0B032 and PRF0B033, if
the underreported parameter is selected when
the report is run. The summary is similar to the
retired report PRF0B001 summary, listing a count
of Prior Year Students, Current Year Students,
    and the percent differential.

15
Parameter Driven PET Reports
  • Similar to EDIT, PET users can now create custom
PET reports and PET report downloads from the
    following list of reports.

PK-Military indicator code has been added to the
    following Fall reports

  • PRF5D030 Immigrant Student Roster by Campus and
    Grade

    the 2007-2008 School Year
  • PET3D001 PET Presumed Duplicate Student Report
    for Enrollment
  • This report has been enhanced to include a new
column entitled Reason. The column displays the
Event Reason values entered on the PET Event
Maintenance page (and also displayed in the
students PET Event History). The new values are
    (C) indicating that research has confirmed the
dual event dates are due to conflicting district
calendars, or (V) indicating dual event dates
have been verified or validated by some other
    form of documentation.
  • PET7D001 Fall Enrollment Status of Prior Year
    PET Potential Leavers
  • Previously, only enrollment dates displayed on
this report. The report has been enhanced to

EDIT External Website
  • Located at www.tea.state.tx.us/peims/editplus the
EDIT external website (so named because it
resides outside of the secure EDIT application)
provides valuable information for the EDIT user
including user set up and system requirements,
user reference manuals, and more. We suggest
utilizing the resources available on the EDIT
external website to assist you in becoming a
    power-informed EDIT user.

User Documentation
  • Reference Manuals
  • The EDIT User Reference and Training Guide is
written to provide new and experienced EDIT
users with a guide to the functionality and
processes of EDIT, including the data collection
and report processes. The content of the User
Guide is similar in content to the online
    UserHelp.
  • The EDIT Administrator Reference and Training
Guide provides an instructional reference source
for the EDIT user with Administration
    privileges.
  • The Guide also contains detailed information
about SAF and PET functionality and processes.
  • The EDIT Tables Reference Guide provides users
with a single-source reference guide to EDIT
    table downloads and lookup tables.

EDIT Online Help Files
  • Online help files are available for EDIT and PET
in the form of ReportsHelp and UserHelp.
  • ReportsHelp provides detailed information about
each EDIT and PET report including a description
of report elements, availability, and sample
    layouts. EDIT ReportsHelp is collection-specific
PET ReportsHelp is school year-specific. Access
ReportsHelp within EDIT and PET by selecting the
purple book icon next to any report name. A
layout of the report displays by selecting the
Sample Report button located on the report
    topic page.
  • UserHelp provides topical explanations of EDIT
and PET functionality and features. In many
instances, UserHelp contains the same content
(although not the same format) as the User and
Administrator Reference and Training Guides. To
access UserHelp, select the Help link from the
black task bar at the top of any EDIT or PET
    webpage.
