Dimensions of Life
  • Keep yourself sharp so that you can better deal
    with your life
  • Body-The Physical Dimension
  • Exercise, eat healthy, sleep well, relax
  • Brain- The Mental Dimension
  • Read, educate, write, learn new skills
  • Heart- The Emotional Dimension
  • Build relationships, give service, laugh
  • Soul- The Spiritual Dimension
  • Meditate, keep a journal, pray, take in quality
    media

Balance is better
  • You have to keep yourself balanced
  • Balance is important because how you do in one
    dimension in your life will affect the other
    three
  • Ex If one of your cars tires is out of balance,
    all four tires will wear unevenly, not just the
    one.
  • Its hard to be friendly (heart) when you are
    tired (body). It works the other way as well.
    When you are motivated and in tune with yourself
    (soul), its easier to focus on your studies
    (mind). Survival/Revival

Take Time for a Time-Out
  • Just like a car, we need regular tune-ups and oil
    changes
  • You need to take time to relax and rejuvenate
  • That is what sharpening the saw is all about

  • Your body is like a tool and you have to take
    good care of it
  • Ten ways to keep your physical self sharp
  • Eat good food Relax in the bath
  • Bike Lift weights
  • Get enough sleep Practice yoga
  • Take walks Stretch out

  • Physical relaxation
  • Good nutrition
  • Proper exercise

You are what you Eat
  • Pay attention to your body
  • If eating a big meal right before bed makes you
    feel sick, dont do it!
  • Be moderate and avoid extremes
  • Dont yo-yo diet, dont jump between rabbit food
    and junk food.
  • Moderation is the key! Pg.209

Use It or Lose It
  • Sometimes when you are confused with your life,
    exercise can help you clear your mind
  • Ex. Forrest Gump
  • He was confused about his life and he started
    running, he ran and he ran. While he was
    running, he thought and cleared his mind.
  • Exercise has a great way of giving you a shot of
    energy, melting stress away, and clearing your
    mind.

Its all about how you Feel, not how you Look
  • In your quest for a better physique, make sure
    you dont get too obsessed with your appearance
  • Our society is hung up on looks
  • The people that you see in magazines are not
    normal.
  • They have personal trainers, nutritionists,
    stylists, etc.
  • Dont compare yourself to those people

  • The appearance does not really matter, it is how
    you feel
  • You need to feel good physically

Abusing your body
  • Using drugs and alcohol can severely damage your
    body
  • Alcohol is often associated with the three
    leading causes of death among teens car
    accidents, suicide, and homicide
  • Smoking can cloud your eyes, cause you to age,
    yellow your teeth, cause bad breath, triple your
    cavities, create tiredness, cause cancer, and it
    can take a lot of your money!!

Abusing your body
  • Doing these things will not make you cool
  • It will just cause you problems
  • Often these gateway drugs lead to seriously
    deadly drugs like cocaine, LSD, PCP, opiates, and
    heroin
  • When you do drugs, you lose control over yourself
    and you do things that you would not normally do

  • Five steps to take to help you refuse
  • Ask questions
  • Why do I want to do this? What will happen if I
    do this?
  • Name the trouble
  • This is illegal. This can become an addiction.
  • State the consequences
  • I can get arrested. Someone can take advantage
    of me.
  • Suggest an alternative
  • Id rather play basketball. Lets go to a movie.
  • Take off
  • Just leave!

Its NOT Worth IT!!!
  • In the end, it is not worth it!!!
  • The short-term good feeling is not worth the
    consequences
  • You dont want to ruin your life because of one
    bad decision
  • Make smart decisions!!
