Creation and Use of Trust in Virtual Communities

• Trust is an important component of all human
  interaction
• Many processes go into the creation of trust
• Personality, cognition, institution etc.
• Harder to trust someone in a virtual community
• Ideally all users will share resources in
  exchange for access from other resources
• In reality there is a conflict between individual
  and social good
• Learn from disciplines such as evolutionary
  biology, game theory, social network analysis and
  computer science to understand online trust
  creation
