Journey to Freedom A presentation by
children from the city of Passaic presented a
short multimedia presentation documenting their
experiences entitled Journey to Freedom on May
12, 2003 recounting their year long friendship
with the 82nd Airborne Division stationed in
Kandahar, Afghanistan. The children presented a
powerful reflection on What it means to be an
American. The performance was video taped and
E-mailed to the soldiers creating a new avenue
for Making the Arts happen. The
children, all second grader, became part of
history in the war against terrorism, by
supporting the brave service men and women
through e-mail, video-email, written
correspondence and care packages. In appreciation
for their support and love, the 82nd Airborne
honored the children with pictures of their tour,
certificates signed by their commanders and the
American flag which flew over their base. TDIA
was proud to support and be part of this
historical journey.
