Creating an Index folder

• Right click anywhere on the desktop
• Click New
• Choose Folder

Double click on 3 1/2 floppy to view the contents
Name your folder with your last name (lower
case)

Importing a Picture Into the Index Folder

• Go to www.eiu.edu
• Right click on the Eastern Illinois University
  logo
• Click Save Picture As
• Choose your folder located on the desktop and
  click Save

Making a web page is very simple

• Creating an index folder
• Remembering that everything you make goes into
  that folder
• Creating an index page
• This is the page that has all the links
• Making related pages
• These pages contain the information you want your
  audience to view
• Linking those pages to the index page

• Remember to always save everything that you
  want on your web page in your index folder

If you click on the table button, this box will
appear. Follow the directions in the dialog box
to create a table. When done, click OK.

If you chose the wrong dimensions
Double-Click the Table and the Table Properties
appear.

1. Click in the upper left cell

Choosing an Image
Click Choose File The image must inside your
index folder. If it is not, it will not open when
on the web server

• Select the Desktop to see the contents.
• Open your index folder to see the contents.
• Click the image you want to place and click
  open
• Choose Dont Use Alternate Text
• Then OK

The image is placed. Now, we can size the image

Click on the corner of the image and drag to
preferred size

Saving a Web Page

• Click File Save As
• Enter My Web Page as the page title

• Choose Index Folder on Desktop
• Enter index as the File Name (all file names are
  lower case no spaces)
• Click Save

Create Another Page
Click New

To decrease the size of the table click and drag
to preferred size.
Insert a Table and create your daily schedule.
Increase the font sizes and change font color.
Change the background of the Table. Save the
table as classschedule (all lower case and one
word).

• Making a link enables your viewer to click on a
  word and go to
• A website
• Another page
• A file

• Type the word Schedule in the cell below the
  Image.
• Highlight Schedule.
• Click the Link button to see the Link Properties
  dialog box.

Linking to another page

• Click on Choose File.
• Select the Desktop to see the contents.
• Open your index folder to see the contents.
• Click the classschedule link you want to choose
  and click open
• Then OK

Schedule is now linked to the index page. Click
Save Click Browse to view your page in Netscape
Communicator

• Type the URL www.eiu.edu
• Highlight the URL.
• Click the Link button to see the Link Properties
  dialog box.

Linking to another website

• Type in the URL You will need to include the
  entire address for this to work.
• Then OK

The EIU site is now linked to the index
page Click Save Click Browse to view your page in
Netscape Communicator

Linking to a e-mail address

• Follow same steps as linking a web site.
• In the Link Location line type example
  mailtoyourname_at_hotmail.com

Downloading Netscape Composer

• Go to Netscape.com and search to download
  Netscape 7.2 Full Version.
