  • 55 of students are eligible for free or reduced
    lunch program
  • Senior Class of 2004 - 937 students
  • 33 took the SAT I
  • Average combined score 955
  • 90 graduation rate
  • 44 completed the A-G requirements
  • Teaching Staff 93 fully credentialed

U.S. Department of Education, Smaller Learning
Communities Grant
  • December 2002 March 2003 - Planning Grant
  • Planning and writing grant proposal with sister
    school including all stakeholders from both
    schools.
  • Planning and grant writing meetings with members
    of both sites.
  • Planning committees from both schools included
    administrators, counselors, department
    representatives, special education
    representatives, athletics, electives, and
    classified staff members.
  • 2003 - 2004
  • Implementation of grant
  • Four new communities were developed to supplement
    the three previously existing communities
  • Selection of Lead Teacher for each community.
  • Master scheduled adapted to include additional
    planning period for Lead Teacher and common
    conference periods for community members.
  • Regularly scheduled SLC team meetings
  • Regular support from outside consultant George
    Perry and Associates.

  • All 9th and 10th graders are placed in a smaller
    learning communities based on
