Summary)
- Make sure
- Under 200 words
- Describes how my focus is on project-based
learning - Indicates how project is innovative (i.e. new and
novel, cutting edge, new approach, novel
instructional strategies) - Describes how project supports STEM
- Indicates how technology is seamlessly integrated
into the project (i.e. describes how technology
tools/equipment used in a new, innovative and/or
novel manner)

- Make sure
- 2-3 pages
- Includes project goals that are measurable
- Details project outcomes and assessments used to
measure success - Describes collaboration (i.e. between
teacher/student, interdepartmental, participation
with community, international collaboration,
state or national organizations, universities) - Describes community impact and potential for
sustainability - Addresses AZ Ed Tech standards (NETS-student
teacher) - Addresses AZ Content standards
- Promotes 21st Century Skills (i.e. student
creativity, self-directed learning, higher order
thinking skills, inquiry and problem solving)
12Budget Narrative
Make sure
- Relates each expenditure (in-kind included) back
to the project goals and clearly provides a
rationale - Researched to find out how much the technology
costs - Shopped around and found fair prices (Cautious of
companies who charge too much for installation
and shipping) - Includes any in-kind services/materials/equipment
from your school/district. (e.g. teacher time,
equipment already in room, jump drives, CDs,
professional development) - Includes only necessary items to implement the
project. (didnt include paying teacher stipends
(including yourself), travel costs, and
replacement items for years to come)
13Checklist
Review the checklist criteria and check off items
you have confirmed are in your proposal. The
scoring rubric is based on the checklist so to
receive a 3 on each rubric section, you need to
have these items included in your proposal.
Successful Proposals Must Include These!
14Before Submitting
- Set it aside for a few days
- Come back, read it with fresh eyes and look for
ways to improve it - Have an uninvolved colleague read your proposal
and give suggestions - Check for missing components (Assurance Sheet and
Checklist) - Make sure you didnt exceed the page limit
- Verify the deadline and get it in on time
15After Submitting
- Don't be discouraged if you aren't selected for a
grant the first time you submit a proposal - The most successful grant writer often have
many rejection letters in their files. - You might re-work your proposal for
different grant programs, or for re-submission
the following year.

Washington, DC. One school will receive a total
