9
The Clashof Two Kingdoms
10
After the baptism of Jesusthe Kingdom of Godand
the kingdom of Satancome into direct
confrontationwith each other.
11
The initial showdown of basileias between
Jesus Satan occurred after Jesus baptism in
the Jordan.
12
At that point the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus
in the form of a dove and then immediately led
him into the wilderness to fast for 40 days and
be tempted by the devil.
13
At the end of those 40 days of fasting (when
Jesus was at his physically weakest), Satan took
Jesus up to a high place, showed him in an
instant all the kingdoms (basilieas/RRAPs) of
the world
14
Luke 41-8
  • 1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from
the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the
    desert,
  • 2 where for forty days he was tempted by the
devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at
the end of them he was hungry.

15
3 The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of
God, tell this stone to become bread."4 Jesus
answered, "It is written 'Man does not live on
bread alone.'"
16
5 The devil led him up to a high place and
showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the
world. 6 And he said to him, "I will give you
all their authority and splendor, for it has
been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I
want to.7 So if you worship me, it will all be
yours."
17
I believe that some misunderstand a vital truth
which makes a significant difference in our
paradigm and practiceabout what Satan was
actually showing Jesus during this temptation.
18
Satan was neither showing nor offering Jesus
any geographical locations, places, or real
estate of the world, because this was not his
to offer, and both he and Jesus knew that.
19
Satan was not showing Jesus the land or geography
of Israel, Syria, Africa, Greenland and the
like, because the earth has belonged to
Godsince He created it.
20
Satan was not showing Jesus empires, castles,
ships, horses, cattle and the like, because the
earth and everything in itbelongs to God.
21
Psalm 8911
  • The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth
(Hebrew eretscountries and their lands, earth,
the ground) you founded the world and all that
    is in it.

22
Psalm 241
  • The earth (Hebrew eretsearth, countries,
lands, the ground, dust) is the LORD's, and
everything in it, the world, and all who live in
    it

23
1 Corinthians 1026
  • The earth (Greek geearth, ground, land, soil)
    is the Lords
  • and everything in it

24
When Satan showed Jesus all the basileias of the
world and offered to give these to Jesus, he
could not have been showing or offering the
earth, the ground the land, the dust to Jesus,
because Satan did not, never has, and never will
own that.
25
Satan does not own anythingin or about the
earth. He only has the kingdom, the RRAP over
the earth, and the kingdom, the RRAP of Godin
Christis taking that from him.
26
Satan was only showing Jesus the invisible
basileias/RRAPs that was his because Adam Even
turned this basileia over to Satan in the Garden
of Eden.
27
The deed to the earth itself was never signed
over to Satan. The old Presbyterian pastor,
Maltbie Babcock, was theologically correct when
he wrote the classic hymn, This is My Fathers
World.
28
REMEMBERthe definition for basileia?the
RRAPof a king.
29
Only the basileias of the earth were Satans to
give to whomever he pleased, and still pleases,
to give it.
30
1 John 519
  • We know that we are from God, and the whole
world lies in the power of the evil one.

31
I believe what Satan,as the prince of this
world, showed Jesus in an instant was all the
RRAPin the Satanic and demonic government of
this present evil age.
32
Daniel 1012-13
  • 12 Then he continued, "Do not be afraid, Daniel.
Since the first day that you set your mind to
gain understanding and to humble yourself
before your God, your words were heard, and I
have come in response to them.

33
13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom
resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one
of the chief princes, came to help me, because
I was detained there with the king of Persia.
34
Daniel 1020-21 111
  • 20 So he said, "Do you know why I have come to
you? Soon I will return to fight against the
prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of
    Greece will come

35
Ephesians 612
  • 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and
blood, but against the rulers, against the
authorities, against the powers of this dark
world and against the spiritual forces of evil
    in the heavenly realms.

36
John 1231
  • Now is the time for judgment on this world now
the prince of this world will be driven out.

37
John 1430
  • I will not speak with you much longer, for the
prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on
    me

38
John 1611
  • (When the Counselor comes he will convict the
world )in regard to judgment, because the prince
of this world now stands condemned.

39
What Satan was to abruptly realize, however, was
that Jesus had no need of the basileia of the
Evil One because he brought the divinely superior
basileia of God with Him to earth, and the
kingdom of God would powerfully and decisively
conquer and crush the kingdom of Satan.
40
This would be clearly and powerfully
demonstrated to Satan within days of his stunning
encounter in the wilderness with his Divine
Nemesis.

After decisively overcoming Satan, Jesus
returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit
44
Luke 414
  • Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the
Spirit, and news about him spread through the
    whole countryside.

45
He then aggressively began demonstrating
(show)and proclaiming (tell) that the
basileia of God was at hand.

Repent
48
Matthew 31-2
  • 1 In those days John the Baptist came,
preaching in the Desert of Judea
  • 2 and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of
    heaven is near."

49
Matthew 417
  • From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent,
for the kingdom of heaven is near."

50
Repent Greek? metanoeo(me-ta-no-eh-o)

52

  • to perceive, think, understand

53
MetanoeoCompound Koine Greek wordmeta
noeopreposition verbafter perceive, think
an after perception or a change in perception
54
REPENTTo change ones way of thinking,
believing, perceiving, acting and conducting
ones life.
55
To repent means to have a paradigm shift
56
What I say I believe is not what I believe.
What I believe is what I do.-Donald
Miller,Blue Like Jazz
57
Mark 115
  • "The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of
God is near. Repent and believe the good news!"

58
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is
near.Change your way of thinking, perceiving,
and living for the RRAP of heaven is near.
59
Usually when we hear the wordrepent,we
automaticallyadd three more words from you
sins.
60
However, often in the scriptures the word
repent has nothing to do with turning away
from your sins. It simply means, change your
perception or way of thinking about something.
61
If you think a Volvo is a better automobile than
a Mercedes,you might say to a Mercedes
owner,Repent, for a Volvo is better than a
Mercedes.
62
If you love cats, but dislike dogsyou might say
to someonewho loves dogs,Repent, for cats are
better than dogs.
63
In the Bible, context determines how the verse
should be interpretedand whether or notthe
word repentis referencing sin.
64
Mark 612-13
  • 12 (The disciples) went out and preached that
people should change their way of thinking
    living.
  • 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many
sick people with oil and healed them.

65
Matthew 1120
  • Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which
most of his miracles had been performed, because
they did not change their way of thinking and
    living.

66
Therefore, the word metanoeo (translated
repent or change your thinking living) may
or may not have sin as its direct focus. It
may simply mean change the way you think and
live.
67
Therefore, when John the Baptist Jesus said,
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near, they
were not only saying, Turn away from your
sins, but also, Change your way of
thinking, understanding living. Change your
paradigm.

The Kingdom of Godis at Hand
73
Mark 114-15
  • 14 After John was put in prison, Jesus went into
Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God.
  • 15 "The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of
God is near. Repent and believe the good news!"

74
Mark 114-15 (Kirk Amplified Translation)
  • 14 After John was put in prison,
  • Jesus went into Galilee
  • proclaiming the good news
  • of God. And this is the good
  • news--

75
15 The time has now fully come for this, he
said, The reign, rule, authority and power of
God, which are all in Me, is in your midst and
right here in your presence with you.
76
Therefore, change your way of thinking,
understanding, perceiving, believing, acting and
livingyour entire paradigm of life on planet
earthand put your faith in this good news,
demonstrating what you believe by what you do and
how you live.
