Palmetto Fellows LIFE Scholarship Enhancement
Fourteen Credit Hour Requirement(Six credit
hours in math, six credit hours in life/physical
science, two credit hours of lab science)
  • Students may use credit hours earned by the
    end of the first year of initial college
    enrollment in the following courses to meet the
    fourteen credit hour requirement for the Palmetto
    Fellows LIFE Scholarship Enhancement
  • Exempted credit hours earned on a transcript at
    an eligible institution (only)
  • Advanced Placement (AP) credit hours earned on a
    transcript for a grade of three or more on an AP
    exam at an eligible institution (only)
  • Credit hours earned from International
    Baccalaureate (IB) courses
  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP) credit
    hours earned on a transcript of an eligible
    institution (only)
  • Pass/Fail credit hours earned for courses with a
    grade of Pass (only)
  • Credit hours earned in high school while in a
    dual enrollment program at an eligible
    institution

Scholarship Appeal Updates
  • 2008-09 appeal deadline is October 1, 2008.
  • Scholarship Appeal website will be live on May
    19, 2008.
  • Advise students to thoroughly read Guidelines For
    Appeal 2008-09.

Proposed Regulatory Residency Changes for 2008-09
  • An independent person MUST rent/lease or own
    his/her SC domicile.
  • The term, sole purpose, for relocation to SC is
    changed to primary purpose.
  • Voter Registration Card is removed as an allowed
    item of indicia.
  • An individual who qualifies under any of the
    residency exceptions to the twelve month rule
    will not automatically qualify for a State
    scholarship.
  • Institutional residency appeals process should
    include a residency officer(s), as well as other
    individuals who are responsible for residency on
    a consistent basis.
