What is a (mini)-collaborative project?

• Structured approach quality improvement
• Team-based
• Test and measure results of changes
• Rapid change cycles

• Plan Establish objectives and processes
  (changes) to achieve wanted results
• Do Test the change on a small scale
• Check/Study Measure and assess the results of
  the change
• Act made necessary modifications and apply
  change on a larger scale

Goals for the First Learning Session

• Describe expectations, process, milestones and
  outcomes for this project
• Provide an overview of where to access
  information relevant to this project
• Provide an overview of current issues and best
  practices in maternal and child care,
  particularly in reference to early initiation of
  prenatal care.
• Assist in the process of selecting a project
  regional team

• Provide expert guide on team dynamics and tools
  for an effective team work
• Assist each team in the development of an
  appropriate aim statement for their project
• Provide an overview of some important quality
  improvement techniques that can be useful in this
  project
• Start a storyboard for each team project

• you will realize that QI is about improving what
  we do every day
• You will be able to use QI tools in your
  activities
• The result of your mini-project is less important
  than the result of the learning process
• Your are NOT expected to solve your issue
• but you ARE expected to test some changes
  through rapid change cycles
