What is heroin?

• Heroin is an opiate like morphine or opium. It is
  identified by the chemical structure C21H23NO5.
• It was originally discovered and synthesized by
  C.R.A. Wright, a British Chemist working at St.
  Marys medical school in London, England. He
  first synthesized the drug in 1874.

How do you use heroin, son?

• Heroin can be snorted, smoked, or most popularly,
  injected directly into the veins or into a
  muscle. People can smoke or snort heroin powder,
  but in order to turn it into a liquid to inject,
  they have to boil it in water to dissolve it.
  They then suck this liquid into a syringe, and
  inject it into a vein.

Side effects of heroin

• When heroin is used, it produces a very fast high
  if injected into the veins. If injected into a
  muscle, it will take longer to take effect.
• Short term effects of using heroin are
  suppression of pain, nausea and vomiting, reduced
  breathing, and irrational thinking.
• Long term effects are collapsed veins, addiction,
  infectious diseases, and bacterial infections.
