LHA Survey Purpose

• To find out how local health authorities viewed
  themselves and their duties
• To develop a baseline for developing future
  educational programs
• Not intended to be a comprehensive survey.
  Follow up with focus groups, summit, additional
  educational surveys

• Survey sent to 160 LHAs May 2001, with 100
  responses (62.5 response rate)
• 2/3 of LHAs are part-time and of those, 2/3 are
  paid
• 65 have no job description
