is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center
with clinical sites in the Pico Union/Westlake
area of down town Los Angeles and in East Los
Angeles.

- We provide 70,000 visits annually
- We serve more than 15,000 clients annually
- We provide medical services, dental, mental
health, alcohol and drug counseling - We are engaged in community organizing efforts to
improve the health of our community

- We serve patients who speak Mayan languages-
Kanjobal, Quiche - Many of our patients are monolingual non English
speaking

13Sexually Transmitted Infections
- Infections passed from person to person through
sexual intercourse or genital contact - Our primary service are has higher rates of most
of these infections - Chlamydia, genital herpes (HSV), genital warts
(HPV), gonorrhea, hepatitis B, syphilis and HIV - Prevention-SAFE SEX or NO SEX
14Childhood Obesity
- About 25 of kids in our neighborhood are
overweight - This has increased steadily over the last several
years - This is an epidemic- it will lead to future
health problems

Diabetes requires self-management
- Goal setting begins with the provider at every
visit. Patients set their own goals for managing
their diabetes
16- Tomando Control workshop is offered to any
patient who is interested.
17Access to Health Care
- For those with chronic diseases like diabetes or
hypertension access to health care is crucial. - Latino adults with diabetes-19.9 or one in 5
report being without insurance all year - Access to a regular source of care- a medical
home- is the best way to prevent complications,
improve the quality of life and to save money.
