5THE CANADIAN CONNECTION2005 is the inaugural
year for the FIRST Robotics Competition Waterloo
Regional event, which is being hosted by the
University of Waterloo! The competition has had
a presence in Canada since 2002 through the
Canadian Regional (now the Greater Toronto
Regional) in Mississauga.Due to the popularity
of the event in Mississauga, expansion was
necessary and Waterloo was a natural choice
because of
- the pre-existing relationship between the
University of Waterloo and FIRST - the facilities that the University has to hold
the games, and - the large number of high tech firms and large
scale manufacturers that call the region home.
