• Death Valley is one of the hottest, driest
  deserts in the entire world.
• The weather goes to the extreme with temperatures
  up to 120 degrees.
• In 1917, Death Valley had 52 days of over 120
  degrees

Wildlife

• Desert Shrew Sometimes in masses of vegetation
  at the base of desert plants.
• Small-Footed Myotis Roosts in caves
• Black-Tailed Jackrabbit Near valley floors and
  in mountains.
• Desert Cottontail Mesquite thickets on valley
  floor
• Gray Fox East side of Grapevine Mountains.

History

• Indian peoples lived in the Death Valley area.
• Death Valley got its name in 1949.
• Became a National Park in 1994 when President
  Clinton signed the California Desert Protection
  Act.
