The Faculty of Environmental Protection was
founded in 1993, as part of Oradea University, a
state institution for education and research. The
Faculty of Environmental Protection owns very
well endowed labs where both students and
teaching staff (120 members of own teaching
staff ) can develop their specialized works and
research activities during the years of study.
The faculty owns 12 classrooms and 35 specialized
laboratories. Actually in our Faculty are
learning a number of 3059 students, 2709 of
them following the long term studies and 350 are
included in postgraduate education activity.

1.Biotechnical and Ecological System
Engineering The field of Environmental and
Engineering Protection, specialization
Biotechnical and Ecological Engineering provides
according to the curricula the training of some
specialists with solid knowledge, related to the
main environmental factors - water, soil,
biodiversity, demography and human health,
capable to offer solutions to the complex problem
man-environment relationship as it is presented
nowadays and in the future, according to the
sustainable development principle.

2.Agriculture Its purpose is to train highly
qualified specialists for the production field,
research and superior capitalization of the
natural conditions enabling plant growing. Highly
qualified specialists in the field of agriculture
will find their preoccupations both in the family
agricultural exploitations, agricultural
associations for the production, processing and
retailing of agricultural products and in the
County Offices for Agriculture and Alimentary
Industry, as well as private farm managers or by
land leasing .

3.Horticulture This specialization has the
meaning to train engineers who would turn to a
good account the ecological conditions of the
Romanian West area, this being an intensive
agricultural region, regarding the horticultural
production (vegetables, fruits, natural drinks,
flowers, landscape fittings).

4.Animal Breeding The main purpose of this
specialization is to train highly qualified
specialists for the production and research
activity and superior capitalization of the
natural conditions enabling animal breeding. The
graduates of this specialization will be able to
cover the necessary number of specialists in the
field of animal breeding as well as
industrialization activity of the animal
products. Highly qualified specialists in the
field of animal breeding will find their
preoccupations in the agricultural, local centres
within the County Offices for Agriculture and
Alimentary Industry, managers of both private or
associated production farms, dealers for
merchandising the animal products.

5.Engineering and Management of Public
Alimentation and Agro-Tourism The purpose of this
specialization is to train highly qualified
specialists in the field of tourism in general,
respectively in that of the agro-tourism in
particular. The presentation of the natural
beauties in the geographical areas in our country
is an important and continue source of income,
being able to attract tourists from all over the
world. Highly qualified specialists in the
agro-tourism will have the duty to highlight
this huge source of income.

6.Forestry The main purpose of this
specialization is to train specialists in the
field of both forestry and capitalization and
exploitation of the forest stock according to
forests recovery ability and the protection of
the other environmental elements from the
forested lands. The graduates of this
specialization will find preoccupations within
the Forestry Board, Ranger Districts, Research
and Forestry Management Institutes, Wood
Processing Centers and last but not least in the
educational field.

7.Forest Exploitation The purpose of this
specialization is to train highly qualified
specialists for the forestry field, i.e. forestry
exploitations in order to achieve a highly and
proper capitalization of the forestry resources.
The forest exploitation activity has to be seen
as an accomplishing act of the forest cultural
process, that reaches its climax by developing a
new generation of trees that will fulfill the
eco-protective and productive requirements. In
the future forest exploitation, regardless the
specific of the companies that applies those
activities - state or private companies will have
an important part to play within the activities
of the forestry area.

8.Wood Processing This specialization has in
view the training of specialists for wood
processing companies, commercial companies so as
to obtain wood products as well as and other
associated forest products ( fruits, mushrooms,
meliferous plants, medicinal plants, fodders etc).

9.The Technology of Processing Agricultural
Products This specialization has the purpose to
train specialists for companies specialized in
alimentary industry and in processing the
agricultural products of vegetal and animal
origin, in order to produce and manufacture some
alimentary finite products such as milk, meat,
bakery products, alcoholic drinks etc.

10. Control and Expertise of the Alimentary
Products The knowledge of the quality parameters
and of the quality improving methods represents
today a national and international priority in
alimentary industry. The engineers working within
this field will have to know very well the
quality of the raw and auxiliary materials
introduced in the technology, the parameters of
technological processing, the possible
technological defects and the possibility of
their recovery, the influence of the
technological processes upon the product quality,
the analysis of the finite products quality to
verify their suitability to the present
proceedings, the discovery of some falsified
products and the possibility of people getting
ill because of some alimentary products unproper
from a hygienic point of view.
