32. THE CONCEPT
- Sub-committee of the CCSSA to represent
interests of CCNs/nurses in SA ICUs - Purpose greater representation of CCNs in 6
regions of CCSSA Constitution (2007) - Legitimate

2 co-opted Nurse members of CCSSA Council, viz.

neonates, manager, educator, clinical nurse or
researcher, promote CCN in SA, other categories

- Nominations received approved 4 Regions
- Proposal approved by CCSSA Council Jun. 07
- Inaugural meeting of group - Congress Aug. 2007
- Presentation of concept to Congress delegates
6 The Southern African zone shall be divided into
six (6) regions, Far Northern Region This
includes the province of Limpopo in South Africa
and all countries in the Southern African zone,
north of the Limpopo River. Northern Region This
includes the northern part of Gauteng Province,
North-West and Mpumalanga Provinces in South
Africa and Swaziland. Witwatersrand Region This
is the area of the southern part of Gauteng
Province in South Africa. Central Region This
includes the Free State Province of South Africa
and Lesotho. Eastern Region This is the area as
defined by the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South
Africa. Southern Region This includes the
Provinces of the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape
and the Northern Cape in South Africa.
