Description
  • Texas is a big state. Texas largest city is
Houston. In Houston, there are more than two
million people. Dallas is the second largest
    city in Texas.

4
LOCATION
  • Texas is in the southwestern part of the United
    States. New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas,
    Louisiana and Mexico border Texas.

5
How to get there?
  • To get to Texas, you need to take a plane some
people get there by car or train. It only takes
three hours to get to Dallas/Fort worth Airport,
    from New York.

6
What you can see?
  • Texas has nice places to visit. The Alamo is the
most visited in this state. It is an old church.
Six Flags is where people go to get on rides and
play games. It has more than one hundred rides.
Big Bend National Park is in the southwest of
Texas. The capital building is the largest
building in the United States, it has 392 rooms,
924 windows, 400 doors, and it took six years to
    build.

7
My Opinion of Texas
  • Texas has beautiful weather. It is hot and you
can get a great tan. The architecture is modern.
The water is nice and blue.

8
The People
  • Many people are of Mexican descent. Many of
these people search for jobs as a construction
workers, gardeners, and maids. Texas is like a
melting pot, it consists of German and Irish
decent. Native Americans were the first to live
on Texas. Many people join the rodeo (where they
    ride on bulls and horses).

9
Education
  • The government provides good education to its
young people. This is one of the best ways to
cut down on the crime rate. Teenagers, who
regularly attend school and learn job skills, are
less inclined to get involved in criminal
    activities, gangs, and drugs.

10
State Flag
  • People call Texas the Lone Star State this
nickname comes from the state flag. It has three
parts a white horizontal stripe, a red
horizontal stripe, and a blue vertical stripe
with a white five-pointed star in this center.

11
State Capital
  • The state capital of Texas is Austin.

12
The Land And the Climate
  • Texas is made of Coastal Plains, which has salt
marshes. To the south the coastal plain is
spotted with cactus. To the west and southwest
of the central plains is the Great Plains. Texas
is also made of mountains and basins.
  • Sometimes Texas has dangerous storms like
hurricanes and tornadoes. The temperature is
very high, it exceeds 110 degrees in the summer
    months. The climate is varied.

13
The History
  • Texas became part of the United States. The 28th
state and got this name from the Coddo, a group
of Native American Tribes. They were the first
people to live in Texas. The Apaches tribe often
fought with settlers and other tribes. The
Spanish explorers were the first Europeans to
visit Texas. In Dallas on November 22, 1963,
President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Tourists from around the world often visit this
place. Another famous Texan was lost in Corpus
Christi on March 31, 1995 she was Selena.
