A lot of time is used for work between
organizations and there seems to be a lot of
waste in that process. Only when we eliminate
such waste will we become a greatly efficient
organization. Standardization of strategy /
terminology is one method of eliminating such
interface waste.

LGE Pride
Middle East and Africa region, off to a great
start in 2008
It has been smooth sailing for the Middle East
and Africa region (MEA) so far in 2008. Not only
did they have the best sales performance ever
this past February, they have been the cover
story in local media for the past few days. MEA
had 320 million in sales this past February, a
55 growth from the same period last year. In
particular, the Dubai subsidiary (LGEGF)
achieved sales of 60 million, which is more
than 3 times the monthly average of 2006, the
Baghdad branch achieved 121 growth from the
previous year, and the Tunisia branch also had a
100 growth. In addition, ACCE (Al Computer
Communications Electronics), a prominent
magazine in the Middle East,
had a 6 page special report on LG Electronics and
an interview with the MEA Regional Company
President Ki Wan Kim, with his photo on the
cover page. ACCE is an Arabic magazine that
covers the entire Middle East region with huge
influence and has a monthly subscription base of
over 30,000, among whom are many major
businessmen. The article which explained each
product category within LG Electronics, along
with pictures, is expected to increase the
understanding of the LG Electronics business
within the region.
LG Electronics launches new 22x speed DVD Drive
On March 19th, LG Electronics (CEO Yong Nam)
launched a SuperMulti Drive with 22x speed DVD
recording (model name GH22). By storing 4.7
gigabytes (GB) of data in 4.5 minutes, it has
improved performance by 9 from the previous 20x
speed product. 2 megabyte (MB) memory and buffer
underrun (breaking of data transmission)
prevention technology allows faster and more
stable data recording. It also has CD 16x and DVD
2x recording speeds suitable for important data
backup or making DVD titles. Vertical and
horizontal installation is possible, allowing
easy installation in a slim type PC. In addition,
Light Scribe which lets you inscribe images or
text on the disc and SecurDisc which
strengthens security, give it higher utility.

22x speed SuperMulti drive is a new standard,
set by the market leader we will continue to
launch products that will satisfy customer
needs, based on our high technical ability.

In order to reflect the loss situation of the
assistant business Comp, monthly loss application
should be finished on time, guaranteeing the loss
set also finished on time. But in LGEHZ,
definition and standard of allowable loss was
vague. Also loss often exceeding the allowable
loss rate because of the unclear cause of
exceeded loss and difficulty to fine suppliers
without clear cause of exceeded loss. So, we
set up the allowable loss target. First, change
the calculating unit from assembly to per item.
Second set reasonable Allowable loss target
based on the items characteristics (Quality,
Processing, etc.) Also we clearly stating the
responsible department.

Finally we establish rule (Suppliers and LGEs
Responsibility) for handling loss. As a result
we could reduce the amount and rate of OSP loss,
and define the process and responsibility
clearly, also improve the work efficiency of OSP
and the ability of managing suppliers.
