Main features (1)
  • One national programme for the entire territory
    of the Netherlands.
  • EU-budget 486 million
  • Objective to improve the competitive capacity of
    agriculture and the quality of rural areas.

Main features (2)
  • The programme is built around 4 priority axes
  • improving the competitiveness of agriculture and
    forestry
  • improving the environment and rural areas
  • improving the quality of life in rural areas and
    diversification of the rural economy
  • implementation of the LEADER approach.
  • The programme contains 24 measures that can be
    cofinanced from the European Agricultural Fund
    for Rural Development (EAFRD)

Main features (3)
  • National and regional authorities worked closely
    together writing the programme.
  • The programme is to be implemented along 2 lines
  • Measures under axis 1 (except 125) run in tandem
    with the subsidies scheme of the Ministry of
    Agriculture.
  • Most of the measures under axes 2-4 are area
    specific and will be carried out by provincial
    authorities

  • Measures under axes 3 and 4 can only be used in
    non-urban areas (cities lt 30.000 inhabitants).
  • Regional differentiation every province can
    decide for itself which measures to use in axes 3
    and 4.
  • The programme was approved on July 20 2007.
