3
Our Rationale
  • At UAF focus of remote sensing - GIS education
has been at the graduate level
  • Various Departments have been running independent
remote sensing - GIS courses with little
    coherence over the entire campus

Course contentsDistinct - Interrelated
  • Orientation Teaching (two weeks)
  • Field Data Capture (two weeks)
  • Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (two and a half
    weeks)
  • Geographic Information System (three weeks)
  • Database Structuring and Management (two and a
    half weeks)
  • Cartography and Geo-Information Visualization
    (three weeks)

Our challenges
  • To condense the information in a meaningful way
  • To generate material that addresses local needs
    and enhances global understanding
  • To set the initial momentum
  • To continue generating resources in future to
    support this effort
  • To reach out effectively to the various
    components of the impact circle
