9What does all that tell me?
- Low entitlement rates limit release from career
fields - Possible issue with 01-03 yr groups in the future
- Up to 30 prior service officers in these bands
- Trend is increased separations after 20 yrs of
total service - Lack of 21A Majors will drag down FGO manning for
yrs - Low 21R FGO numbers continue for foreseeable
future - Lots of FGO opportunities in Core AFSC positions
10Force Development
11Developmental Teams (DT)
- Group of senior leaders who oversee development
of officers within a given core AFSC - Membership
- 21X DTs chaired by AF/A4L
- Membership consists of 21X O-6s from each MAJCOM
- Meet 3x / year
- Spring vectors, NRPP, career-field issues
- Summer vectors, SQ/CC, 20C0/DCM, IDE/SDE, PAS
- Fall vectors, RAS, AFIT, LCBP, career field
issues
Deliberate Development to Meet Mission
Requirements
12Developmental Teams (DT)
- Developmental Vectors
- Provide level of next assignments (not specific
position) - Identify officers for special programs (LCBP,
RAS, etc.) - SQ/CC 20C0 Boards
- List of officers to serve as functional
commanders - Cross functional look at CC candidates for
Training and Recruiting Squadrons - Development Education (DE) Nomination
- Prioritized listing of officers to meet DE
Designation Board - Provides school vector
13Steady State Vectoring
- Deliberately develop Airmen to perform our
diverse mission - DT members review personnel files
- Records, SURF, ADP
- Panel jointly compares notes
- Collaborate on vectors
- Tailored to individual career field development
- Provides feedback comments via ADP
- A lot of discussion goes behind each comment
- Vector type of assignment, NOT location!
- Example Ops Officer, SQ/CC, MAJCOM Staff
GOAL - Build development game plan vs.. narrow
focus on specific jobs
14Steady State Vectoring
Maj (s) 1
IDE Window 2
SDE Window 4
Lt Col (s) 3
Yrs Service
15Steady State Vectoring
- Vectors are not loaded for all submitted ADPs
- Vectors good 3-5 years
- Intent of vector one-time feedback
- Re-vector w/ O-6 request, out-run vectors, etc.
- DTs do NOT look at CGOs
- Delegated to AFPC
- Vectors are NOT assignments
- Assignment teams strive to match DT vectors
- Focus on mission needs individual
16Developmental Education
