Origin
  • Formed in 1992 by self-motivated group, inspired
    and dedicated to bring a positive change in the
    social scenario by energizing and empowering
    communities to enable them leading a life with
    dignity, equity and quality.
  • Registered as a Non- Governmental Organization
    (NGO) under the
  • Societies Registration Act-1958, Reg.
    346/91-92.
  • Income Tax Act, 1961, article 80G Reg.
    2007-2008/920.
  • Foreign Currency Regulation Act Reg. 125560132.
  • Donations are encouraged and accepted,

Mission
  • The Mission of Bal Sansar is to bring relief to
    all marginalized and vulnerable community groups,
    especially focusing on girls, orphans and
    abandoned children and families.

Goal and Objectives
  • Goal Making a meaningful contribution to the
    society by empowering the communities to enable
    them leading a life with dignity, equity and
    quality. To achieve this goal, organization has
    defined the following objectives

  • - Develop and promote voluntary efforts/groups by
    mobilizing local communities and strengthening of
    Community Based Organizations (CBOs) for
    sustainable development.
  • - Address health issues with a focus on old-aged,
    women and children health.
  • - Address issues of HIV and AIDS, Positive
    living, care and support.
  • - Respond special care needs of the vulnerable
    communities in emergency situations,
    particularly of old-aged, women and children.

Accomplishments
  • Transitional Education Centres (TECs)
  • Run 10 Transitional Education Centers for the
    Children Released from Gem-Polishing Industry in
    Jaipur City, supported by International Labor
    Organization (ILO) through the Govt. of
    Rajasthjan and National Child Labour Project
    (NCLP) Society Jaipur.
  • The project aimed towards quality primary
    education and rehabilitation of 250 children.
  • Mainstreamed all the children for continuation of
    their formal education.
  • Self Help Groups (SHGs)
  • Formed SHGs each comprising 15-20 mothers of the
    children enrolled in TECs aiming to enhance
    earning opportunities of mothers by providing
    them technical know how in certain selected
    trades.
  • Promoted habit of small savings in the mothers of
    children engaged in labour.

    HIV-AIDS programs with network partners and as a
    result, on behalf of the employer agency of the
    Chairperson, she has been part of National AIDS
    Control Program (NACP) phase-III planning and
    design process and nominated a member of the
  • working group on GIPA, Legal and Ethical Issues
    and
  • Technical Resource Group (TRG) set-up by NACO.

  • Development of Community Care Center for HIV
    positive people in Ajmer being one of our success
    stories and is a result of our tireless work with
    PLHA and other stakeholders.
  • Earned credibility and an excellent rapport with
    the communities, vulnerable populations and HIV
    Positive groups.
  • Most recently, completed successfully, Behavior
    Change Communication (BCC) a pilot project
    addressing communication needs of adolescents,
    youth and young adults in the age group of 15-25,
    covering 20 villages of Tonk district in
    Rajasthan, India, supported by UNICEF Rajasthan.

    health, migration, sex work and HIV-AIDS issues.

Weaknesses
  • Long term and continued funding is not available
    at present and that results in to
  • Unmet management costs in a project mode funding
    and hence, voluntary human resources need to be
    mobilized, that is not often so easy.
  • Difficulty in retaining the trained and skilled
    professionals in the team, beyond a particular
    project funding thus, loosing skilled human
    resource.
  • Continuity of programme gets hamper, and also
    the links with the communities.

Infrastructure
  • In Jaipur
  • A rented office, conference Hall with basic
    computer, audio-video aids.
  • In Ajmer
  • Three Bigha (10,000 sq. yards) land available to
    develop 4 projects
  • Sambal- a Community Care Center, 10 bedded
    institutional care facility for the people living
    with HIV and affected by AIDS. The project is in
    progress.
  • Srijanam- a resource center for child development
    with a residential facility for 40 children
    (orphan, marginalized and vulnerable).
  • Vishrantika- a home for aged people/ senior
    citizens not having family or social support and
    want to lead a meaningful life with dignity.
  • Aarogyam- a center of alternative treatment
    therapies (naturopathy, Aayurveda, Homeopathy and
    the other indigenous forms of treatment and
    healing) aiming to improve the health status of
    individuals and the society.

Organizational Budget and Sources
  • In the preceding years
  • The organizations budget was in the range of 2
    to 6 Lakhs.
  • In year 2006
  • Rs. 4.21 Lakh is a BCC project funding in Tonk
    district from Unicef office for Rajasthan.
  • Rs. 3 Lakh donations received from private sector
    and individuals for the infrastructure
    development at village Hathikhera.
  • Currently
  • A commitment of Rs. 9.11 Lakh, 5 Lakh and 3 Lakh
    has been received from the MPLAD and MLALAD
    schemes from the MP, Ajmer, MLA, Ajmer East and
    MLA Kishangarh constituencies, respectively.
  • During last two years, organization has
    focused more on institutional building on a piece
    of 3 Bigha (about 10000 sq. yard) land in Ajmer
    district. The work is in progress through PWD.

Current ProjectsSambal, a Community Care
Centre
  • HIV and AIDS Considering the immense need,
    vulnerabilities, HIV surveillance in the state
    and country, Bal Sansar has taken a conscious
    decision to be an active player in the sector,
    to build an effective response to the epidemic,
    contributing to the NACP-III.
  • Sambal is Bal Sansars initiative in response
    to the felt needs of People Living with HIV and
    affected by AIDS (PLHA), at community level.
  • A Hospice Rehabilitation Centre for PLHA in
    Hathikhera village of Ajmer district in
    Rajasthan, India.
  • One of its kind CCC in a rural settings in the
    Northern India, supported by PLHA, PRIs, CSOs and
    the local communities.
  • Land donated by a senior citizen.
  • Infrastructure development through private
    donations, corporate charities govt. schemes.
  • Planned to operationalise ASAP, Proposals are
    submitted to donor agencies.

Vision of Sambal a Community Care Centre (CCC)
  • Sambal firmly believes that life is natures
    greatest gift and supporting those, whose life is
    under threat considered to be most desired act.
  • Sambal believes in the importance of care to
    PLHA and is convinced that there is hope even
    after being diagnosed HIV positive fostering
    hope through various means and ways is the scope
    of Sambal
  • Sambal will work by caring, supporting,
    rehabilitating, motivating and providing
    palliative care to those in the final stage of
    the disease.

    the Sambal residents and PLHA families.

  • To provide rehabilitative services and improve
    quality of life.
  • To prevent the occurrence and further spread of
    HIV and AIDS through communication services and

Residents of Sambal
  • Most residents will come through the referrals
    from Govt. hospitals, private clinics, doctors,
    health care professionals, NGOs, PLHA AIDS
    Service organizations.
  • However, anyone infected with HIV and affected by
    AIDS is eligible to access the services.
  • Early referrals are encouraged enabling patients
    and families to receive all the benefits of care.
  • Admission is time bound.
  • Priority and preference to the most needy OVCs
    living with HIV and affected by AIDS.
