  • Motivation
  • Generalized multigrid algorithms have been shown
    to exhibit grid independent convergence rates for
    elliptic operators and hence are attractive for
    problems with large degrees of freedom.
  • Algebraic Multigrid (AMG) allows for automatic
    construction of generalized multigrid components
    and has been shown to exhibit grid independent
    convergence rates for elliptic operators.
  • Objective
  • Extend and apply AMG to parabolic/hyperbolic
    systems resulting from stabilized Finite Element
    (FEM) discretizations of the Euler/Navier-Stokes
    equations.
