  • DALLAS
  • TEMPERATURE SENSORS
  • in AMS-2
  • AMS SubD Meeting at CERN, Geneva, February 2005

Interface to USCM

Tests Made by Shixiong Fang
4
Results
  • The maximum number of sensors on one bus136 in
    case B length13.3m
  • Voltage drop and rise time increase when connect
    more sensors or increase
  • cable length, (generally voltage drop 0.4v
    when connect 32sensors to bus)
  • As to the topology, linear is priority

5
Typical Waveforms
32sesors,3m Voltage 4.8v
136sensors, 13.3m Voltage 3.7v

New USCM Software (HBB)
  • The set of USCM commands is now almost as good as
    in AMS-1
  • Up to 64 Dallas sensors per each of 8 busses
    (well, only 64 x 6 sensors tested)
  • USCM may (should) be used to read Dallas sensor
    IDs
  • New software may be given out to trusted users
    now
  • Dogmatics, please wait, when it will be
completely finished and fully tested (in about a
    month)

7
Global Temperature Network
  • Dallas busses are connected to USCMs in JPD
  • There are also some PT1000 sensors read by TTCS
  • Measures temperatures before subdetector
    electronics power startup
  • AK and SF will make a prototype
  • PCB with SMD Dallas sensors (design and
    production)
  • Cable design
  • Cable routing on the AMS-2 mockup
  • Electrical tests
  • Everybody study the next diagram and speakout
  • Suggestions, as always, are welcome

Local Temperature Networks
  • These are connected to USCMs in
  • CCEB
  • UG-Crate
  • M-Crate
  • Remider TTCS will not read non-TT Dallas sensors
  • Too few USCMs coordination is required (see
    next slide)
  • How signals arrive in USCM (FP/BP)?
  • USCM modification needed? (remove some parts, add
    mezzanine board)?
  • Nonstandard USCM front panel design?
  • Modified USCM space qualification?
