Equivalent Piping Calculation
Equivalent length is the converted length and
includes parts such as elbow, which has pressure
losses in the pipe. The formula is as follow
Equivalent length Real length of tubing No.

Important Criteria
Criteria 1
  • When the equivalent length is over 90 of the
    maximal real length the diameter of the main
    tubing (from the outdoor unit to the first branch
    joint) should be one size bigger than normal.

Criteria 2
After expanded the gas pipe to a larger diameter,
the equivalent length need to be recalculate.
The formula is as follow

Important Factor to Consider
Example
Maximum allow actual length for 10Hp is
125m Calculated Equivalent Length is 116.1m Ratio
of Equivalent Length over Maximum allow Actual
Length 92.88 Equivalent length is over 90 of
the maximal real length the diameter of the main
tubing. Hence the gas Pipe of MDS100BR need to
change.
