- Mangoes are native to southeastern Asia (India), 
 where they have been grown for over 4000 years.
- Mangoes were first grown in the Himalayas of 
 India and Burma.
- Mangoes were first brought to three places in 
 North America Hawaii, Florida, and Mexico.
3...In the U.S.A.
- The first places in the U.S. that mangoes were 
 grown in are Hawaii and Florida.
4In Asia
- Asia still grows ¾ of the worlds mangoes. 
- In Asia, mangoes are used for pickles, chutney, 
 and relishes.
5Theyre Healthy!!!
- Mangoes have enzymes similar to papain in papaya, 
 which helps with digestion.
-  Because mangoes are fruits, they contain no 
 cholesterol or saturated fat and contain only
 about 0.6 grams of total fat. Their sodium
 content ranks low at 4 mg.
6Mango Muffins
- Ingredients 
- 2 cups all-purpose flour 
- 1 cup sugar 
- 2 teaspoons baking soda 
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 
- ½ teaspoon salt
Ingredients (continued) 3 eggs beaten lightly ¾ 
cup vegetable oil 1 tablespoon lime juice 2 cups 
diced ripe mango 1 medium ripe banana, mashed
Directions In a large bowl, combine the first 
five ingredients. In another bowl, combine the 
eggs, oil and lime juice add to the dry 
ingredients just until moistened. Stir in the 
mango, banana, raisins, and nuts. Fill 
paper-lined muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 350 
degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick 
comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes.

 are the number one selling fruit in the world.
- Some varieties of mangoes are Van dyke, Langra, 
 and Irwin.
- A mango is ripe when it is close to bright 
 yellow, yields to slight pressure, and has a
 fruity aroma at the stem.

- On holy days, Hindus brush their teeth with 
 mango twigs.
- Some Indian families in Asia argue heatedly about 
 how they should make their favorite mango dishes!
