PDR Payload Overview

    specific attributes to draw conclusions
  • Remaining Lifespan of specimens, (estimated at
    30-60 days)
  • Mobility of ladybugs (vs. normal and control
    groups)
  • Appetite (measured by consumption of food)
  • Hypothesis The G-force and vibration of a rocket
    launch will have significant effects on adult
    stage ladybugs
  • Three Control Groups and the Flight Group
  • At Home Group, Travelled, Travelled Confined
  • Flight Group is travelled, confined AND flown
  • Science Value
  • The Space Shuttle has flown a ladybug experiment
    previously, but the forces at launch are much
    less on the shuttle than anticipated on our
    rocket.
  • Our experiment also adds to the data of
    post-launch sustainability and viability of
    ladybugs, hopefully indicating ongoing beneficial
    capability.
