To achieve 2 of GDP assigned to RD in 2010
(equalling the current average in the EU-15).
To achieve 55 of private contribution to RD
investment in 2010, reversing the negative trend
of recent years.
To achieve the average EU percentage of GDP
assigned to ICT, reaching 7 in 2010.

I. PUBLIC-PRIVATE COLLABORATION CENIT PROJECTS
CENIT PROJECTS DEFINITION
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE NATIONAL STRATEGIC
CONSORTIA FOR TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH (CENIT)

1. Contractual agreements for long-term
   collaboration between public and private research
   groups within a joint research programme.
2. Participation of at least 4 companies (2 of them
   being SMEs) and two public research bodies.
3. Minimum commitment of 4 years (renewable).

• Minimum budget of 5-10 million euros (average)
  per year.
• Funding regulations
• i) Minimum 50 funding by the private sector.
• ii) Minimum 25 participation by Public Research
  Centres.

• Budget of 1000 million euros over four years (500
  million from the private sector).

I. CONCLUSIONSThe CENIT Projects will complement
traditional industrial research instruments and
it entails new opportunities for the public and
private partnerships.
