  • Nearest international airport at Chennai (in the
    state of Tamil Nadu)
  • 150 kms. South of Chennai and 10 kms. From the
    town of Pondicherry.
  • Travel time between Chennai and AV 3 hours by
    road.

  • WHAT IS AUROVILLE (AV)?
  • Universal township in the making, devoted to an
    experiment in human unity.
  • Started on 28th February 1968
  • Recognised as the first and only internationally
    endorsed ongoing experiment in human unity.
  • Endorsed by UNESCO and supported by the Indian
    Government
  • August 2007 AV Census-population1908

    by temple and village lands of Tamil villages.

United Nations Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Organisations (UNESCO) support
  • Snr. Federico Mayor, Director-General of UNESCO,
    in his letter of 31.01.98"The Auroville
    project situated in Tamil Nadu, South India,
    which has been supported by the General
    Conference of UNESCO in 1966, 1968, 1970 and
    1983, is actively developing according to the
    basic principles of international understanding
    and human unity."
  • The General Assembly of UNESCO unanimously
    passed in 1966, 1968, 1970 and 1983 resolutions
    of support to Auroville, inviting
  • "member states and international
    non-governmental organisations to participate in
    the development of Auroville as an international
    cultural township designed to bring together the
    values of different cultures and civilisations in
    a harmonious environment with integrated living
    standards which correspond to man's physical and
    spiritual needs."

  • Auroville will issue certificates for students,
    stating the kind of community service theyve
    participated in and the number of hours.

    certificate of participation.

What is the cost of this trip?
  • Approx. AED 4750 (5 nights and 6days)
  • (Subject to any tax increase or fuel surcharges)

What does the cost not include?
  • Visa costs
  • Cost is approximately AED 150/- (depending on any
    other additional costs)
  • All foreign nationals require a visa to India

PAYMENT DETAILS
  • AED 500 as deposit to book a place by Sunday,
    September 30th 2007.
  • 50 of the balance amount to be paid 22nd of
    October 2007.
  • Remaining 50 to be paid by Sunday, November 11th
    2007.

Health and Safety
  • Auroville recommends
  • Tetanus protection prior to the trip.
  • Malaria immunization is not necessary BUT if you
    wish to take that precaution, it is important
    that you consult your doctor before.
  • Long trousers, skirts clothes that cover your
    legs mosquito repellents for evenings.
  • Drinking filtered/boiled or bottled water AV
    has filtered and dynamised water.
