Title: Vagueness and Generality

1
Vagueness andGenerality
2
From the vague, or possibilityas from within a
singularity, a mere pointgenerality emerges
3
But generality, through Time, consists of
the Realization of myriad Possibilities. So
is Generality not also Vague? And is the Vague
not the ultimate Extension of generality?
4
Lets listen to Peirce
5
"ANYTHING IS GENERAL IN SO FAR AS THE PRINCIPLE
OF EXCLUDED MIDDLE DOES NOT APPLY TO IT AND IS
VAGUE IN SO FAR AS THE PRINCIPLE OF CONTRADICTION
DOES NOT APPLY TO IT." (Peirce CP5.448)
6
"A CONTINUUM IS A COLLECTION OF SO VAST A
MULTITUDE THAT IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE OF
POSSIBILITY THERE IS NOT ROOM FOR THEM TO RETAIN
THEIR DISTINCT IDENTITIES BUT THEY BECOME WELDED
INTO ONE ANOTHER. THUS, THE CONTINUUM IS ALL
THAT IS POSSIBLE, IN WHAT EVER DIMENSION IT BE
CONTINUOUS." (NEM4.343)

Signs become signs, from vagueness to generality,
and vice versa
12
See the following, for your contemplation,
regarding homogeny and hierogeny and
heterogeny, all of which bear on vagueness and
generality, somehow, I trust (or, perhaps, see
merrell, Processing Cultural Meaning, Legas,
2007)
