What is Vanet?

• VANET - Vehicular Adhoc Networking

Security Issues

• Jamming
• Generation of interfering signals.
• Very easy to jam the network.
• Forgery
• Contamination of the network.
• In transit traffic tampering
• Modification or corruption of messages.
• Can obtain services illegitimately.

• Attacker act as genuine part of the network.

• Every user's identity and information should be
  kept private.
• User's personal information should be traced back
  only when proper authorities require it only when
  needed.
• User should be held accountable for improper
  actions.

• Privacy System (2 Layer privacy)
• Internal Privacy Providing privacy to the user
  within a group.
• External Privacy Providing privacy to the user
  outside the communication group. (world)
• Pseudonym Generation
• Each pseudonym can be linked to real pseudonym
  through efficient interaction of members present
  in group
• Every member should be able to choose their
  pseudonym independently

• Reputation Management System
• Feedback system each member of the
  communication group should be responsible for
  providing feedback of others interaction in the
  network.
• Feedback should be either negative or positive.
• Vehicles will accumulate this scores provided by
  others and will build reputation.
• If vehicle's reputation too low, vehicle will be
  put in probation.
• If vehicle is not following rules it will not be
  able to communicate in the network

Problems

• Proposed system works well in a slow changing
  environment, but key management becomes an issue
  in a fast changing environment.
