11Who Does the Work of Preparing for an ABET Visit
(In a Small Program)?
- The Chair
- Engineering Chairs Group
- Faculty Members can be Reluctant Participants
- Advisory Board Members Read/Edit Study
- Limited Institutional Research
- Deans Office Focused on Appendix II
- Clerical Staff Administration of Surveys
12Observations Related to Visit
- ABET Visitors are inclined to be supportive. (My
Belief) - Each has idiosyncrasies and wants to see evidence
in ways that are hard to predict. (My
Observation) - Use the ABET visitors check sheet as guide in
writing Self Study. - Write the Self Study as if it was a marketing
report but in the form of an engineering report.
13Observations Related to Visit
- You cannot begin writing the Self Study too early
- Communications Problems with Visitor
- Claim your Success
