• The following four laboratory sessions deal with
  concepts of plant ecology
• Understand what is meant by the term ecology
• Understand the importance of the role of the
  environment
• Understand the difference between physical and
  biological environmental factors

Purpose for Lab Session 10

• To observe the complete lifecycle of a flowering
  plant
• To introduce the basic procedures for
  successfully growing of plants
• To examine the effects of density-dependent
  competition using Brassica rapa (Wisconsin Fast
  Plants)

Materials and Methods

• Follow your laboratory manual and teaching
  assistant instructions to set up the Wisconsin
  Fast Plant experiment
• Wash your hands before and after touching pots to
  avoid spreading disease

• After planting place labeled pots under grow
  lights and follow the schedule of Plant Care and
  Response Measurements listed on Tables 1 and 2
  in your laboratory notebook
• Always wash hands when working with pots to avoid
  spreading disease
