ATLAS Upgrade/RIA prototype cryomodules have been
developed

• Rectangular top-loading designs
• Separate cryo and beam vacuum
• Prototype w/QWR HWR to be tested 2006
• Suitable for spokes as well

Existing test area for single cavities

• Connected to ATLAS refrigerator
• Originally for ATLAS cavity RD
• 2nd cave added 2002 for spoke tests
• Small clean room for assembly

Our existing horizontal test cryostat has been
pushed to the limit

• Design compromises may be affecting results
  certainly slowing us down

A new vertical cryostat will streamline tests
enhance results

• Similar to box cryomodule
• Minimize components involved in clean assy
• Top loading
• accommodates all structures
• Fast turnaround
• Diagnostics easily implemented
