Mindquest Academy is a

• Mindquest Academy is a
• college preparatory curriculum for adult learners
• Originally funded by the Bush Foundation, it is
  now in the process of developing as a partnership
  of the state Office of Adult Education and MnSCU

• The curriculum has been designed to meet the
  needs of adults who want to go to college but
  need to build the skills they need to be
  successful in college.

It offers access to higher education to a group
of adult learners who might not otherwise be able
to attend college.

• The Academy offers four types
  of courses
• Skill-building Math, Writing, Reading, ESOL)
• College Success Time management, goal-setting,
  test-taking, motivation
• Career Career exploration working in college
• Academic Samplers Courses that introduce
  students to the study of academic disciplines.

• The Academic Samplers are a unique set of
  courses.
• They help students learn about
• how the academic disciplines ask and answer
  questions about the world
• How the various disciplines have evolved over
  time
• What the hot topics are today in a discipline
• What types of work people trained in that
  discipline do

Academy courses are like interactive
textbooks. Students work closely with their
teachers and with other students in a
literacy-rich environment

• They develop computer skills, critical
  thinking skills, and the self-confidence that
  they can indeed be successful in college.
