Challenges to Solve Technologies

• The SemanticGov project aims at developing an
  infrastructure and application environment based
  on
• A Public Administration service model that
  combines the descriptive power of WSMO (Web
  Service Modeling Ontology) and the PA specific
  semantics from GEA (Governance Enterprise
  Architecture)
• Semantic Web Service enabling set of tools (e.g.
  WSMO Studio, WSMX)
• SOA-based, Enterprise Application Integration
  software (Software AG, Crossvision Suite)

Potential Impact

• To reengineer the provision of PA services in
  order to address a dual PA integration deficit
• Internal integration (amongst PA agencies).
• External integration (PA-society).

eGovernment Policy Support

• In i2010 A European Information Society for
  growth and employment
• Interoperability is explicitly addresses as one
  of the four main challenges for the creation of a
  Single European Information Space and essential
  for ICT-enabled public services.
• In i2010 eGovernment Action Plan
• Interoperable essential infrastructure services
  (e.g. cross-border access to registers), common
  specifications, interoperability guidelines and
  re-usable software are all building blocks of
  high impact eGovernment.
• promotion of interoperable eGovernment services
  based on standards, open specifications and open
  interfaces
• Moreover, SemanticGov focuses on the provision of
  Pan-European eGovernment Services, and takes into
  account EIF and supports the IDABC work
