Reading Block

• Facilitation of Basal reader and Literature Book
  studies.
• Small, Flexible grouping to meet individual
  reading goals.
• Inquiry based activities to improve reading
  comprehension and fluency.
• Each week will focus on a one or two new skills.
• Student designed reading goals.

Writing Block

• The writing process prewrite, rough draft, edit,
  revise, final draft, presentation.
• Genres of Writing Friendly letter, narratives,
  story writing, poetry, fractured fairytale,
  scientific report, biography, book reports
• Six Traits of Writing Voice, word choice,
  conventions (grammar), organization, fluency etc.
• Final drafts are given 60 of grade following a
  rubric. Prewriting 10, rough drafts 20,
  editing/ conventions 20
