    Philippine Legislators Committee on Population
    and Development (PLCPD) to use part of their
    funds to support the project

The Operations
  • Service Hours 800 AM to 600 PM
  • Sorsogon State Colleges Guidance Counselor (thru
    a MOA with SSC President, Dr. Augusto R. Nieves)
    will act as the Guidance Coordinator
  • 15 SCARTY members man the center as well as act
    as Peer Counselors
  • Regular meeting once a month

Counseling
  • Could either be by Peers or by a Professional
    counselor depending on the complexity of the
    problem
  • Done face to face or through telephone hotline
  • Done inside a counseling room or outside the teen
    center where the counselee can freely relate or
    ventilate their problems

  • Conduct of youth forum, health classes
  • Dissemination of Advocacy IEC Materials
  • Print Ads Radio programming
  • Fliers and stickers

  • Networking and partnership with various sectors,
    institution and individuals for referral purposes
    had been established

Resource Center Recreational Facilities
  • The center boost its own mini-library with books,
    pamphlets and other reading materials that can
    help students with their researches
  • Materials for indoor games like chess, games of
    the general, scrabble and the likes are also
    available

Valuable Lessons
  • Increasing consciousness/awareness among
    political leaders re population and RH including
    ARH issues and concerns resulted to concrete
    program support
  • Proven that Networking is an effective advocacy
    tool that leads to passage/ improvement of
    policies, and the successful implementation of
    programs and projects

  • Through initiative, self-reliance and
    determination to advance the reproductive health
    concerns of the youth , one can put up a concrete
    and a sustainable mechanism as exemplified by The
    City Government of Sorsogon in initiating and
    support the establishment of their Teen Center
