  • I chose the baboon, because I like the sound that
    it makes. They sound like a dog barking.
  • Baboons are mammals. Mammals are animals that
    are born alive and drink milk from their mothers
    bodies.
  • Some species of baboons are endangered and some
    are extinct.

Physical Description
  • The baboon looks like a heavy monkey with a snout
    like a dogs .
  • Most baboons are either brown or gray.
  • Male baboons have a mane.
  • Baboons weigh from 30-120 pounds and are 14- 30
    inches tall.
  • They have small eyes and big brains.

Habitat
  • All baboons live in Africa.
  • They like sunlit grasslands.
  • They roam in large groups called a troop.

Diet
  • All baboons eat meat and plants.
  • They are omnivores.
  • They eat berries, seeds, pods, blossoms, leaves,
    and plant sap.
  • The variety of meat that they eat is insects,
    fish, shellfish, hares, birds, vervets and young
    monkeys, and small antelope.
  • They forage early in the morning and evening.

Babies
  • Female baboons usually have 1 baby.
  • The baby feeds from its mother for the first 6-8
    months of life.
  • The newborn baby rides underneath its mother.
    Older babies ride on her back.

  • The mother warns off predators to save and take
    care of her baby.
