Live encoding - FAQ

• How to deal with commercials and promos between
  programs?
• Promos and commercial triggers are filtered. It
  is however required we can identify a promo or
  commercial using the trigger metadata
• What about straps during programs (e.g. Next
  on.)?
• The on-air SDI signal is recorded, meaning the
  program is recorded and made available exactly as
  shown on TV. A broadcasters may feel the straps
  are an annoyance for catch-up and it is possible
  to use an external keyer in combination with a
  clean feed or to use the clean feed itself as
  source. The optimal solution depends on the
  requirements of the broadcaster.
• What about commercials during programs?
• We currently support to cut the program in
  parts, if these triggers are available, and
  stitch the parts back together before delivery
  to the catch-up TV hosting provider. We are
  currently investigating possibilities to pause
  recording during commercials. This allows faster
  delivery as stitching the parts back together
  takes time.
• How are unscheduled programmes supported e.g.
  Breaking news
• In this scenario we will receive a trigger with
  minimum information as metadata from
  traffic/scheduling system was not available.
  These shows are always recorded and the
  broadcaster is informed an unknown program is
  available and waiting for metadata. After the
  minimum metadata is entered, the program is made
  available for catch-up.
