What is OJT?
  • OJT On the Job Training
  • A program identifying a structured and meaningful
    training path developed to take a novice employee
    to the journey worker performance level.

Journey Worker
  • A skilled worker who practices some trade or
    handicraft syn craftsman
  • Craftsman a person who practices or is highly
    skilled in a craft (an art, trade, or occupation
    requiring special skill)
  • One who has fully served an apprenticeship in a
    trade or craft and has become a professional
    level craftsman in the trade.

What is the Purpose?
  • To Provide training and upgrading opportunities
    for minorities, women disadvantaged workers to
    move them toward journey worker status

What does OJT do?
  • Provides an individual an opportunity to earn a
    wage, while learning a trade (earning while
    learning.)
  • Provides Advancement opportunities for Trainees
  • Replenish the labor force to minimize lost
    knowledge
