8KSC FIT Review Test Results
Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer NASA / DOE
- KSC FIT was considered an engineering development
test, to verify interfaces and command / data
structures prior to flight implementation. - Two cable (pin-out) errors were found
- RS-422 cable between AMS-02 and the Shuttle test
bed - 1553 cable for PTCS between AMS-02 and the ISS
test bed - Cable modifications made and verified by test.
- These design changes will be implemented for
flight. - Minor issues with some data formatting and
configurations. - PTCS APS encountered loss of sync with HRDL.
- Characterized during FIT, but exact cause still
unclear. - KSC created IPR (problem report) no. IP000765.

9KSC FIT Review Test Results (continued)
Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer NASA / DOE
- Remote Terminal (RT) address was not as expected,
which necessitated a software change in JROM to
accept the correct RT. - Load testing of data systems was not possible due
to inadequate systems for both Payload Data
Services System (PDSS) and Ground Recording
System (GRS). - Test procedures developed and refined real-time
with lessons learned.

10KSC FIT Review Test Summary
Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer NASA / DOE
- STS CITE Tests
- All communications functionalities and interfaces
verified. - After FIT, AMS-02 support for KSC CITE was
discontinued, and will not be available for
AMS-02 flight hardware integrated testing. Other
testing capabilities are being investigated. - ISS PTCS Tests
- All communications functionalities and interfaces
verified. - AMS-02 test team gained an improved understanding
of ISS based command and data flow management.

11KSC FIT Review Follow-On Tests
Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer NASA / DOE
- HRDL-APS Loss of Sync
- Further testing to understand the sync anomaly
and test solutions. - Will be performed this year at JSC ISS Systems
Integration Lab (ISIL) facility (See next
slides). - AMS-02 PDS Unavailability
- Power quality test requirements, location and
schedule being identified at this time. - AMS-02 SSRMS Configuration Interconnect
Verification - Will verify interfaces through flight cable
harnesses for Power and Video Grapple Fixture
(PVGF) to External Berthing Camera System (EBCS)
to AMS-02 PDS, possibly 4th quarter of 2005.

12KSC FIT Review Follow-On Test - ISS Systems
Integration Lab (ISIL)
Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer NASA / DOE
- Test Objectives
- The exact cause of this problem was not
understood by AMS or ISS test teams. - Attempt to reproduce and quantify the loss of
data problem. - Develop an AMS-02 work-around in the event the
data loss is repeatable. - Test Description
- ACOP and AMS/ACOP hardware readily on hand in
Houston. - APS, HCOR, HRFM, TAXI Analyzer provided by ISS
Systems Integration Lab (ISIL). - Test procedures being developed.
- Test Status
- Require schedule inputs from AMS Collaboration
team regarding foreign nationals - Visa availability / renewal
- To support JSC and ISIL badging processes
- HCOR and HRFM are not currently located in the
ISIL. - All Issues should be resolved to support the
planned test window of mid-June.
